The Moral Imagination of 'Leave It to Beaver'

An oldie but goodie.
Thought older gulchers would enjoy this.

Never knew so much went into this series. I often wondered why my home life wasn't like that and I wonder, now, why I lost touch with all I observed watching it.

Seems, we lost that part of our culture and most misunderstood; so much so, you might say: Those today of "Moral Indignation" lack Moral imagination.

Enjoy your trip in the "Way Back" Machine.

Hmm...turned out to be Eddie Hassle...(spelling and pun intended)

Had a friend like that...got me in a lot of trouble, didn't want to say no in fear of being thought of as a wimp...turns out, he was the wimp and I always paid the price.

Gee, that's a nice dress you're wearing, Mrs. Cleaver.

    Why, thank you, Eddie.

It was just a meme that probably explains something much deeper had that conversation ever evolved to accommodate "conscious" man.

The status quo won't allow it.

Still no reason not to garner the first principles and moral imaginings that help us navigate reality.

I had the 4 door 6 cyl with the 3/tree. Drove the livin' hell out of it, blew the engine & sold it for $200.

"And God Created Woman". Just the opening scene made me sweat, disturbed my sleep and probably degraded my eyesight.

My first car was a brand new '53 Ford in '53. I put $400 down on the $1,600 price . The $400 was all in quarters & half dollars, my savings from tips as a delivery boy from Schultz's Grocery Store.I gotta tell you, that was a surprisingly heavy little box.

She was, most often, done up in a pony tail as I remember. She played across from Elvis P like Annette did also and I think she was on the Micky Mouse Club too.
You may be right, I'm going to attempt a search before I have to start dinner, (on the barbie mate)...so long as the storm hold off.

I am inclined to agree with you and it's a great observation. Old shows and books of fiction often drew on deep meanings from history and great works... the likes of which are foreign to them.

Just guessing, but I bet back then they spent a lot more time creating a script.

I get the feeling that these days, there are about 20 (being generous here) generic templates, with blanks to fill in for specific names, insults, curse words, and put-downs. Emphasis on getting the most laughs, especially if the topics can be considered crude.

Boy! does that bring back memories.

Trying to think of the other girl, a blond, that played roles like Annette did...just can't remember her name.

Yes, they are blind because they don't have a connection to their mind.

Just thought it was time for a rhyme!...laughing

I think is has in the respect of the acceptance we see so often today...that acceptance encourages, excuses and tempts those on the psychiatric fence.
