Words taken hostage by mob rule.
and another example of how decent people are cowed and prodded into doing others' bidding by right of what? reason? integrity? No. Small groups of manipulative, mean spirited individuals keeping us on our toes to avoid being called racist.

    Since they represent the Washington area, if they are serious about changing their name, they should change it to either A: The Washington Liars, B: The Washington Chaos or C: The Washington Elitists.

    I still miss the Washington bullets. Name recognition is important not to mention re-merchandising everything; changing it is not for nothing. It’s up to the owner, whatever he decides.

    I have no problem with changing the name to "Warriors", but I'd feel insulted by it, were a tribal American.

    It bugs me every time I hear our troops called "warriors"; no, they are not warriors, the are something far superior; they are soldiers.

    A soldier stands for something; he stands for civilization and the rule of law; he places himself between his home and the barbarian warriors.

    A warrior is barbarian who fights for the pleasure of destruction, for the looting of the productive.

    To put it in AS terms: Hank Rearden and Dagny Taggart were soldiers. Wesley Mouch was a warrior.

    Btw, even more off-topic, one of my favorite lines from ASp2 is Sean Hannity declaring, "Hank Rearden is a hero." Love hearing that every time.

    I learned the meaning of rabiblanco from the last volume of the "Falkenberg's Legion" series of books, "Prince of Sparta", when it was described by the absolutely most horrific villain in all of literature, Skida "Skilly" Tibideau.

    Gawd I hope Sergeants Miscowsky and Bielskis found her... and I hope they took video.

After that the blog article gets interesting and appears factual. You do you have a philosophical problem with reading a NPR blog? If you do. I understand but it is not ‘that’ kind of article when you get to the meat of it.

    I have to agree with you on this. Being a native Washingtonian, this argument seems to come up once every few years. It’s getting old. I won’t watch them if they change their name. This is the stupidest debate in the news. i don’t believe for a moment anybody is truly offended.

    Googled it. Comes from Panama. Rabiblanco in Spanish literally means 'white tail'. Derogatorily, it means 'white ass'. Refers to the elites of Panamanian society or, even more scatological, a Norte Americano who has come to Panama to retire. Not a nice term.

    That's the beauty. Everything stays the same except the name. The logo, colors, all is the same. The only thing changed is the name and that shouldn't be too hard to fix, should it?

    If you're offended by "Redskins" then don't watch the games or buy their crap.... this ain't rocket science.

    maybe. what about all the money already sunk into team name and logo on materials, merchandise, brand recognition? That the President of the United States singles your franchise out and says "pox on your house!" How chilling is that to businessmen?
    On the other hand, who paid for the stadium? time to pay the piper I guess

    Here's a solution. In the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, there is a small town called Santa Rosa. Now, they use the same helmet logo as the Washington team but they are known as the Warriors. No unfortunate connotation and a worthy name denoting bravery and skill. So I vote for the Washington Warriors. And there is a certain alliteration there.

    Yes, I use the term "retard" when I wish to insult someone. I use a lot of inappropriate language when I wish to insult someone. Duh. Doesn't mean every time you use inappropriate language you're trying to insult someone.
