That is very nearly the truth of it, Mike. Conspirators use that argument very well to conceal their manipulations and to discredit those who have uncovered evidence of conspiracy.
Unbiased investigation is warranted.
Finding investigators who are unbiased and not corrupted is the first challenge to discovering the truth.

We watched both versions of The Manchurian Candidate last weekend. The next day, my wife pointed out the Washington Times opinion piece. It is nonsense, total right wing silliness, of the very same kind as Senator Iselin i.e., Senator McCarthy. "He could not do more damage to our country if he were an agent of Moscow."

My thoughts were always with Donald Trump as the Manchurian Candidate. ... but he did not need special brainwashing.

The thing is though, if you really know American history, and not just today's Fox News, you know that charges of being a foreign agent go back to the Federalists and England and the Republicans and France. Do you know about the XYZ Affair? You can google it and read Wikipedia in case you do not know it from a class in American history.

The Anti-Masons and the Know-Nothings of the 1830s were another example of political squabbles voiced as claims of conspiracy.

According to the John Birch Society of 1960, President Eisenhower was "The Deputy" -- which was, of course, the charge made against the Pope and his collusion with the Nazis. And speaking of popes, there was President Kennedy in 1960. Today, he is being rehabilitated as a "conservative" for this stance on Berlin, the Cuban Missiles, the Green Berets, and his use of federal powers in the economy, presaging President Trump's anti-market policies.

Conspiracies are everywhere, once you start looking. In fact, that's all you can see.

Always on the lookout for that sweet spot when I can slide in a stealth drive-by zinger to get the lefties present to take a pause as if their brain just missed a gear. Then I'll move on to something else so as not to precipitate a brainless emotional confrontation. The other half is usually always in agreement with me, but doesn't like muddling up nice social affairs, especially with relatives. sigh I do remain civil at such gatherings.

Same here, DOB. My ex gf was always trying to stop me from speaking the truth publicly even though she agreed. Many people would rather be polite slaves. We are at war. The enemy knows it and acts on it.

Hah, same here. When he was first elected I visited some younger relatives who voted for him and we started playing Euchre with a deck they bought that had Hussien's picture on the back. When I was offered the "cut" I turned it down by smacking the deck rather hard and said, "Gosh, it really feels good to slap a communist!". "NO politics here and not now! We're supposed to be having fun!" shouted my wife. "Yes, dear". We dropped the subject and did have a good time, LOL. I'm sure there was interesting conversation after we left.

Hopefully, enough Americans learned from the criminal Obama administration not to fall for another such scheme. Significantly, a Quinnipiac poll as far back as 2014 found Obama was voted the worst president since WW II.

The Hillary campaign was a ghastly conspiracy from the start to continue the destruction of the United States. With all of the fervent exercise to insure her election it almost seems that divine intervention stopped her in her tracks.

Thankfully, the Democrat politicians and supporters have carried their hatred of Trump voters way over the line. They are so blind in their anger that few are noticing the number of former Democrat voters that are walking away from the party. That irrational, senseless fury, combined with a likely very socialist platform should make this the beginning of the end for them. However, I'm betting that the victory of a very left wing Mexican president will convince them that they still aren't far enough left.
