Very hard to stop.
My biggest problem is it wasn't really high-speed. It was a step up from a bus. If they could get trains with speed close to competing with jets, it could reduce emissions and transportation costs and be a very good thing.

I hope they build it. I have a kids book about future transortation technologies from the late 70s. My 5 y/o likes it. It has a partial-vacuum tube train as something coming soon. The IT stuff has blown past everyone's predictions. I hope we see some revolutionary aerospace technology too in my lifetime.
Yeah, I'm not saying they should have built it just to give my company business.
