"A 2005 report by analysts at Bear Stearns concluded there were 20 million illegal immigrants, far outpacing the more accepted figure at the time of about 12 million."

If there were 20 million in 2005 (even 12 million) and more come in every year, how can the number now be 12 million? According to the article, the illegal population stabilized at 12 million. That would mean that more were leaving than arriving. I seriously doubt it. I would guess there are around 40 - 50 million!!!!

Yeah, well I live in Connecticut, and this comes under the 'No shit Sherlock!' classification of: 'Thank you captain obvious.' Also: What the hell are these Yalies doing with all that money?

The number has to be big. In Las Vegas, in spite of the intense heat in summer and cold in winter, there are a LOT of hispanics who barely speak english, and they breed like flies.

I agree; good point. But Trump said that is true, so the media must do anything possible to convince the gullible that he is wrong, regardless of common sense or grammar school arithmetic.

I didn't need a study. The official number of resident illegals has been "11 million" for 20 years, while we see hundreds a day pouring across our porous border. Common sense should tell us that there are many more than officially recognized.

Which is why controlling one's borders is critical to maintaining one's sovereignty.

Read that a week or so back. Also heard that the figures were likely off, last year or so from Ann Coulter...just kept it as a question mark in my subconscience until presented with more information.

Good point. I think the title is typical of the media trying to get readers.
However, the Yale authors are not liberals trying to bias the numbers low nor conservatives trying to bias the numbers high.
The critics of the study are government workers or liberal think tank workers of the ilk that have a history of being in favor of less stringent enforcement of existing immigration law. That itself is illegal.
I admit to being biased. I have thought that both major political parties have been screwing Americans born in America for decades and destroying western culture in America.

    Everything is relative.
    Double compared to what?
To be objective about such an issue as immigration one must define your terms.
    What is a tourist?
What is a visa holder who overstays their time?
What is a child brought here illegally unknowingly?
What is a person who deliberately crosses over the border knowing that it isn't proper to do so?
    And so on
Without differentiating between various conditions and the corresponding people associated with those particular conditions, then you can't really have a rational discussion.
