While we're very happy to have you in the Gulch and appreciate your wanting to fully engage, some things in the Gulch (e.g. voting, links in comments) are a privilege, not a right. To get you up to speed as quickly as possible, we've provided two options for earning these privileges.
One of their main function is to provide cover to the excesses of another as if they were separate and not just the Government Party or to be kind coalition. That leaves the third leg of the socialist triumverate union leaders whose main function is to launder tax dollars into campaign funds and provide a reason for more PACs.
I didn't make this up. It was Benito Mussollini former leader of the Italian Socialists turned Fascist party.
Fascist just means control by any means which explains complaining about free speech when the subject was buying votes with soft money.
Evolution is a long, incremental process, and each individual's mental framework is built one idea at a time. How to beat back the dominant bad ideas that have hold of them now? How to prove that our propaganda is better than theirs? Even the best-intentioned parents don't have the "intellectual ammunition" with which to guide their children, let alone choose their politicians.
I sure wish MLK were still around. He would have declared victory long ago. Maybe that's why they killed him.
Legislating that all children must master the same scholastic program is a last-ditch effort to homogenize the population and make the herd easier to control. What we're really seeing is a battle of memes.
The marvel is that kids already have a common core of knowledge and culture through the Internet and their music and entertainments. Just look at how values can be changed by making brainiacs heroes, like NUMB3RS and Big Bang Theory, where math and geeks are cool. It's kids who are the self-taught computer experts anymore. Kids can figure things out for themselves, like the Hole-in-the-Wall project, http://www.ted.com/talks/sugata_mitra_sh... and many excellent on-line learning programs. It's the government's test authors who are the real racists.
