The other three of us were taught to read via phonetics... in my case by my mother. But, he was taught the "word-unit" method, I think it was called. Basically it meant that he couldn't learn any word he had not already seen. Til now, I had never even heard of anything so evil in education.
I've looked over the assignments and reading material. she is right what she being taught does not make sense. I don't know if it is common core or something else the school board selected, but it doesn't make any sense to me and I "work math problems" for a living!

Please don't misunderstand, I abhor Common Core and have been fighting in my own state to get rid of this. That said, I cannot see what could be so complicated that an adult couldn't comprehend it.
