OMFG... O'Really Factor's talking points is on.

O'Really is claiming that the illegal alien invasion wasn't the issue that beat Cantor; it was class warfare. Because his campaign spent $170k eating at steakhouses, while Brat's campaign spent $200k total, that's evidence, to O'Really, that the people of his district saw him living large (and apparently got jealous...)

I still can't figure out how that progressive blowhard stays #1 in his timeslot.

khalling: bravo...if we turn off the magnet that is welfare, the immigrants who come will be the productive ones...no matter their ethnicity, race, gender or religion...and we'll want them all...

It is really quit simple. He stopped representing his constituents in Virginia. Cantor was only representing the interests found inside the capital beltway, including BHO's comprehensive immigration reform fiasco.
With only a few exceptions, the only thing that can be found inside that ring of snarled traffic that represents the true American spirit are the monuments to this nations founding or the documents stored in the museums there.
It is absolutely pathetic that none of the members of the congress have congratulated Brat on his well deserved victory... as of this writing
    Cheers

Brat ran on a conservative platform. It works every time it is accurately and sincerely articulated.
    Brat's platform:
That the free enterprise system is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice,
That all individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society,
That fiscal responsibility and budgetary restraints must be exercised at all levels of government,
That the Federal Government must preserve individual liberty by observing Constitutional limitations,
That peace is best preserved through a strong national defense,
That faith in God, as recognized by our Founding Fathers is essential to the moral fiber of the Nation.

    Cheers from a fellow Coloradan

A small addendum: This is the platform Dave Brat ran on. It is not surprising that the capitulating, compromising ruling class of the Republican leadership would oppose this platform:

    1. That the free enterprise system is the most productive supplier of human needs and economic justice,
    2. That all individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice, and opportunities and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society,
    3. That fiscal responsibility and budgetary restraints must be exercised at all levels of government,
    4. That the Federal Government must preserve individual liberty by observing Constitutional limitations,
    5. That peace is best preserved through a strong national defense,
    6. That faith in God, as recognized by our Founding Fathers is essential to the moral fiber of the Nation.

    Cheers

I Think a write in campaign should commence for Kentucky Senate Race and Ohio 8th! :D

I don't think this is going to be a good year for incumbents. People have had it with a government that does nothing but keep chairs warm and just might be realizing that they can change the fannies in the seats.

That, as you know, has spread farther than the South. Except for Thomas Sowell (presumably), just about every Black in America voted for 0bama. Even Republican-leaning Blacks (that I know of - very few!), although they prefer not to advertise it, still voted for him.

Eliminating the welfare state is the primary task. Nearly all problems are created directly, or like this illegal immigration, indirectly from such.

Look at his opponent. He stacks up very nicely. The only concern would be if Cantor tries to mount a write-in campaign. That could split the votes and get the D elected. The D candidate, btw, is a fellow prof at the same university. I think they know each other well.

Do you really think that the final vote will be based on who's a better candidate? We are so polarized that the votes will be 140% along the party lines. In fact, if a horse or a criminal enters the race, the votes will still be along the party lines. Hold on, did I say "if'? Sorry, that has just happened in California, so move along, nothing new here...

I agree, but can Brat beat the Democrat? Political shenanigans are happening here in Colorado with the Dems running ads in the Rep primary for governor, hoping they will steer voters to the candidate they like to run against the abysmal Hickenlooper. Was this the same thing?

He is an affiliate of the Ayn Rand Institute. He may have won because people actually voted against Cantor not for Brat. He has a scholarly trail demonstrating his advocacy of free markets, natural rights, property rights, and adhering to the Constitution. He mentioned Immigration 5th. Yes there is an immigration emergency. However, the welfare state is more crucial in the war against illegal immigration than immigration itself. Ask France, Great Britain, Germany about Muslim immigrants

perhaps. except for the fact that all the prog news outlets are freaked out this morning. After all, Cantor was a known quantity to them. Also, where the democrats have been great at getting turnout for presidential elections, they are not as well organized in the midterms. I am still waiting for a bag of votes that haven't been counted show up for Cantor

No, but he has that soft spoken Virginia accent that sounds like honey dripping off the comb, and as he said last night he believes in a Virginia that works for everybody. And since he went to Washington he had his teeth whitened and hair died. Translation? He cares so much for the people of Virginia and the United States. BS. I stopped watching perky little Katie Couric when she asked people "How did you feel..." Early news says Cantor was beaten by an economics professor talking straight market forces solutions and close the border.

I have no problem with immigration. My question is when did the rights of illegal foreign immigrants become more important than the rights of US citizens? I think we should close the border until our citizens are made whole from the second great depression. Then if tight labor markets slow our growth, then look at immigration. To stand and say immigration will grow the economy literally is a "rich get richer" solution. The rich will get richer with domestic labor too, but the whole population gains when the participation rate improves.

So, basically the new guy said free markets are a good thing and what about us first...and won by a landslide. That could be a recipe for this fall. Even guys like Lindsey Graham could carry that message for a while, if it meant they would win. Of course the difference is we're looking for someone that will stay with that message.
