"...guest host Mike Barnicle asked Johnson what he would do about Aleppo with regards to the Syrian refugee crisis."

Johnson’s response was “And what is Aleppo?”

Barnicle asked an out of context question. He left of any context to Aleppo by leaving off that "with regards to the Syrian refugee crisis." part in the article. Barnicle is too smart to do that other than as a gotcha thing. Johnson with context knew about Aleppo. His other gaffs were gotchas in that they need some discussion and not just knee jerks.

Here is a little putdown for Barnicle from Syria.

Bad behavior is rewarded (or at least not punished) at the ballot box. When the voters quit rewarding it, politicians will quit doing it (or not get re-elected).

    I think you nailed it.
It's hard to tell why, but the reality is, that there is a lot of stunted development going around in adult bodies, some of whom have become evil to the point where they cannot tell the difference between good and bad behavior.

I am not a Trump supporter, how ever, a Popularist beats getting a Communist for President. Any Objectivist should realize that at least with a Popularitst we have a chance to slow the march towards Socialism/Comunisim. Maybe even with enough support move slightly towards Objectivism. With Hillary we only accelerate our rush towards Socialism. Add her emmagration policies and any chance of returning our Nation back to the Constitutional Republic is lost. Add her leftist choices for Supreme Court, and remaining a free Capitalist Nation could be lost for at least a generation, if not longer. Green and Libertarian parties have no chance, they are a wasted vote. No, our only chance is to back the Republican Party now, and work to get a stronger Tea Party/Objectivist/ Capitalist representation there.
Trump is not Conservative, not Capitalist, not a Constitutionalist, but for now, is the only choice that won't destroy our Country in 4 years.
Time to start finding the right people for the Congressional Primaries. They are less than 2 years off. If we wait too long, we will have to choose again between the lesser of two evils.

"I'm getting the impression that our country will be run by children."
I thought that was just me getting old. It's not just the name-calling stuff but even the issues. For example, balancing the federal budget hasn't been on the radar. I can't tell if it's just me getting old or if it's the fact that "adulting" has become a verb, but I get this same impression. I feel like there's a generation of good, intelligent, creative people coming of age, but they've had a helicopter-parented life shielding them from the harsh realities of things not always working out. I can't tell how much of this is me being >40 and how much is a real shift where it feels like more people want to be children than adults.

I'm still waiting for the release of reports on how Hillary treated the Secret Service agents, while her old man was in the White House.

That story has been around a LOT longer than this latest thing on Trump.

They have to be more careful about that. Jill Stein is only polling about 2%, and raising her visibility could backfire. Especially if new revelations about Hillary surface between now and election day.

In a more "normal" election both Hillary and Trump would be unelectable. Good thing they have each other to run against. I think Gary Johnson will pick up some Trump voters after this latest revelation. And he may pick up some additional Hillary voters from the latest document dump regarding her speeches to bankers, along with possible future revelations from Wikileaks or others.

From this election cycle more than any other that I have experienced, I'm getting the impression that our country will be run by children. Children whose emotions and control of their consciousness has never matured into adulthood. With dozens of issues facing the country, they deal with personal accusations and name calling and revenge. I understand that sort of thing in the sandbox, but not with politicians. I also understand that the very act of trying for an elective position makes a person somewhat askew, but these people are totally twisted.

The NYT better get cracking on trying to take down Dr. Jill Stein of the Green party as well. I'm hearing lots of young Bernistas say she's the best supporter of the Sanders revolution left.

As usual - Republi-canned outrage and Demo-crap. We see Hypocrisy and Holier than thou bullshit from all parties. Also the utter Bias and political collusion of NBC who held this tape until now. All part of the strategy of throwing as much stupid shit on Trump to cover how much criminal shit Hillary is covered with and that oozes out of her every pore.

Which one of us has NEVER said anything rude or vulgar? You know that every Politician has said and done worse. Hillary called the women, that her husband sexually assaulted, "Bimbos"
    "Basket of Deplorables" anyone?
. At least Trump wasn't caught in a Lie, like The Democrat candidate caught saying how she really feels about trade deals and Wall street. What do you know? Opposite of what she says publicly..

As with everything Trump has said, it's honest. You may not like what he says, find it offensive but at least he is open and you know what you're getting. Pick a career Politician and they believe much worse, but just don't say it publicly.

All one knows is that Party Politicians are corrupt and scum of the earth. Anyone other than Trump, who is an outsider and you know exactly what he will do, will do something really bad for the country. The question is how much evil will be heaped on all of us. At least with Trump we have a chance of betterment.

Trump said lewd things about women? Oh MY. He has no experience covering up his thoughts and hates reading from scripts. That's really bad? He is arrogant. Yup. And you aren't? And the other candidates aren't?

So far I have not heard or seen anything substantial against Trump other than innuendo and smears. I believe he can take control of the mess that is the Federal government and clean it up like he did with his businesses.

Maybe his 11 year old language was dirty but his actions will Clean up the rotting corpse that is the Federal Government run by the two private Corporations; the Political Parties..

Weld looks very much like Hillary shill. Gary just looks like a flake. Rand Paul should have ran Libertarian once he dropped out of the GOP field.

That's been my take on them from the get-go. When sometime rises up as Libertarian I have a different sent of expectations. No, I don't have to agree with everything the say/want, I'm Conservative. But they do need to avoid the landmines I detest from Ds and Rs.

I trust these two only slightly more than the rest.

AJ, despite their protests to the contrary, they are both statists and would be comfortable keeping the status quo.

    Right on target, CG.
The NYT editors realize that Johnson is taking more votes from Hillary and they are doing all they can for their masters.
I still think Weld is a snake, but Johnson is the only candidate worthy of the office of president.

Since the beginning of the campaign Weld has said he had great respect for Clinton and not for Trump. This is no significant change.

"I expect this to continue to be the case, regardless of which candidate Weld attacks between now and election day."
NYT has been not paying much attention to Johnson, and now they're slamming him in non-op-ed articles:
    http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/06/us/...

I suspect the reason is NYT supports Clinton and they see Johnson as a threat.

This is bogus media spin, according to Bill Weld himself:

    http://reason.com/blog/2016/10/05/bil...

"But in a follow-up interview with Reason this afternoon, Weld denied that he was pivoting, denied that he would be focusing 'exclusively' on Trump, and denied that he was working on any political future outside the Libertarian Party.

"'I said to the reporter that I plan to focus on Donald Trump, because I think his international proposals represent a grave threat,' Weld told me, 'but in the same breath I said that I'm not going to omit to make the points that Mrs. Clinton, if she were elected, runs the risk of spending and borrowing us into the poorhouse, and that I think her fiscal policies and her military policies are not at all in line with the approach that Gary Johnson and I will take if elected. So nothing is to the exclusion of anything else. I did convey to the Globe the idea that I would be emphasizing the respects in which I think Mr. Trump's international proposals are wrong-headed, but that's nothing new—I've been saying that since Day One."

Furthermore - I think that to the extent that Bill Weld does focus on Donald Trump's shortcomings, it's going to hurt Hillary more than it hurts Trump. Most voters are already either pro-Trump or anti-Trump. Weld won't change many pro-Trump minds, since they like their candidate precisely for the positions of his that Weld is criticizing. But he may convince some wavering anti-Trump Hillary supporters to vote Libertarian instead, since he is giving such voters an anti-Trump alternative to a candidate they really don't like very much.

The presence of a Libertarian presidential ticket is hurting Hillary more than Trump, according to most polls. I expect this to continue to be the case, regardless of which candidate Weld attacks between now and election day.
