Interesting how the infrastructure that is so easily ignored can come back to bite. It is also something to ponder what if this happens on a large scale?

What a beautiful area. If I'm going to be cut off from society, this spot is in my top 3.

Exactly. That is why the Big Earthquake threat in the Northwest is really a problem, we will be isolated for months if not years. Most of the bridges will go "plop". And there is a butt ton of bridges in Or., none of which are maintained, too busy funding ...something...

There you go, when either a big earthquake or other disaster happen, I doubt you will get a helo to lift 400lbs of feed to your animals. I guess I have to look at my preps, I am very deficient in my emergency backups. I have 3 generators but gas is a problem, you can't hold it for very long. Have to see hoe I can keep feed long term.

Didn't the hyways in southern cal collapse due to an earthquake back in the day? How long did it take to rebuild all the overpasses???

Just think of what it would be like if and probably when the power grids go down...nevermind all your electronics in cars, computers, banking etc.

Thanks, CBJ. Unsurprisingly for coastal CA, the secession would be to socialism, not liberty. May they receive their just desserts.

What an opportunity for establishing a Gulch!
Wonder who the residents voted for in the last election, and would they be inclined to secession?

I drove north along the Big Sur coast during the summer of 1973. Absolutely breathtaking.
Wonders abound in foreign countries. Tee-hee.

The folks in that area are very well to do for the most part. If cutoff for 3 weeks a major city would be the apocalypse epicenter.
