The last thing we want is a bunch of people like Rep. Campbell making things worse.

This guy has some good intentions. The details seem impracticle. The conversation has begun. That is the important part.

you made that up. but I'm giving you a point for it. and why did Christianity have to sneak in this post? It's everywhere in here now. I predict it will infiltrate the Producer's Lounge by sunset.

Heh heh. Good comments here from all. I have a story to tell. It is apocryphal as hell, but too good not to share.

Back when I was a Christian, I had a pastor who related a story his father had told him. Calculating back from my pastor's age at the time, this story (if true) would have happened about eighty to a hundred years ago. Knowing the conditions existing in Arizona, I find it possible, if not entirely believable.

My pastor's father grew up in a little bitty Arizona town with a one-room school. The boys in that school got into a contest to see how quickly they could drive each new schoolteacher out of town -- so they wouldn't have to go to school, you know, until the grownups could hire a new one.

So, a time came when a certain new schoolteacher came to town. He was a small man with a high, squeaky voice. The boys figured that they could make him quit before the first day was out.

He was standing in front of the class, telling the boys & girls in his high, squeaky voice, "Now children, I came here to teach school, and that's exactly what I intend to do." Then he pulled his coattails back to reveal a revolver on each hip.

He drew both guns, and put his initials on the back wall of the classroom.

    And he taught school.

... I said I didn't like that part. IF that is how they are going to implement "safety" they might as well not bother.

Concealed carry only and no public info on exactly who has them. Times change this is the ONLY answer to stop the madness. Go Arizona !! Campbell must think like the rest of them, the money falls out of the sky....why pay another single person to have a gun in the school, when in fact, that single person can not cover the entire school in a situation that requires fast action. If I was a teacher, I would demand this legislation for my own protection as well as the protection of my students. Campbell should be required to sit in on a concealed carry class, just to learn the responsibility required to do it.

Wow, Campbell said a really stupid thing. These anti gun people really think gun owners are willy nilly ("blustery") people who have no regard for gun safety or the seriousness of the responsibility of owning, carrying, or using one. (I think the word "responsibility" IS the key difference between us and them anyway, but that's changing the subject here.) I love that 200 teachers signed up in UT for the free concealed carry classes, that's a good sign. I'd love to hear the unions start crying about this too. They must be climbing the walls. Gotta love AZ. (But watch for the attacking back lash on both Babeu and Horne by the libs.) I did hear Babeu on the radio yesterday talking about this. So glad they're talking sense in this State. I don't like the part about having "access" and a "designated area" though. The gun(s) should be carried at all times. Concealed would be even better, in my opinion.
